Description: The satinwood occasional table stands on four saber legs that have thin light satinwood inlays. These flare out slightly in a concave shape, like a saber or curved sword. They are squared and taper near their feet. A mahogany stretcher, with four scrolled supports, meeting at a pitched centre point topped by a stylised urn, connects the table legs. Supported by the four table legs is an oval-shaped satinwood top that has a central inlaid panel with floral marquetry and parquetry, just inside the outer edge of the oval is a thin inlaid satinwood line. This oval top is encircled by a inlaid raised edge so as to accommodate the 0.5cm thick lead-glass, that of course protects the tops intricate inlay design. The table top is decorated with a ornate intricate satinwood parquetry design, which radiates from an oval-shaped centre. In very good solid condition, has original makers/sellers labels, has been well cared for - like many pieces of this kind, they are traditionally placed up against a wall with perhaps a vase or work of art on display, with years of moving and cleaning the table, the oval band raised edge that faces the wall often makes contact so has markings on the stripped band with a small piece missing (easy repair if needed), which adds to its provenance to the age of the piece - please see photos. Both 1stDibs and the Mayfair Gallery is selling the same type of piece for £1,800, though without the intricate ornate inlaid design, or lead-glass for the top, - as their tables have a plain parquetry design on their flat surfaces.
