Description: A rare find. San Bonnifacio the martyr is the patron saint of brewers, file cutters…He is also said to have been the inventor of the Christmas tree. San Bonnifacio was about to cut down a special oak tree. Before he could strike the tree, an amazing wind blew it over. He was not hurt when it fell. The people saw it as a sign from God. The text on the bottom of the retablo is white and a little difficult to read from minor paint loss. Saint Boniface Mexico oil on tin 7” x 10” ca 1885
