A lovely and LARGE antique French valance , dating c 1890 ~this lovely textile once adorned the side of a bed ~ the fabric is a medium to heavy weight cretonne ( thin warp and thick weft weave ) cotton ~ the top is gathered and once hung from a bed crown! ~*~ This curtain was in vogue at the time of Belle Epoque movement! ~*~ The ground tone is a true red and black floral design. Lovely art Nouveau feel too ~! The fabric was printed on BOTH sides, quite typical for that time period ~*~ ! ~ MEASUREMENTS: This textile measures roughly ~ 83 inches wide by about 19 inches deep ~ CONDITION: This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition with storage dust and some light little dirt marks. This textile can be machine washed and hung to dry! It really needs a wash , I just cant keep up with all of the washing, so unwashed condition is reflected in the price) Lovely condition other than in need of a wash! ~*~ There are some small areas where the valance has come unstitched to the tape at the top ~~* Not without signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles! ~*~ E895 Feb 17, 21
