Description: Antique R. Delinieres & Cie Limoges Gold Fleur de Lis Filigree Bread and Butter Plates, unknown pattern. Eleven plates are available and are priced per plate. Measurements: Each plate measures 5-3/4" in Width. Pattern Description: Cream Rim with White Center divided by gold circle, Scalloped Edge, Gold Fleur De Lis Filigree on Rim. Gold Trim. Unidentified pattern name or number, but the gold filigree pattern and the shape is the same as #DEI212 as designated by Replacements, Ltd., The differences are this has a gold inner ring separating the cream rim from the white center, whereas DEI212 has various color backgrounds and no gold center ring. Company History: The factory was established in 1863 by Rémi Delinières. It was located in Limoges in the street which is now named Albert-Thomas Avenue. In 1895 Léonard Bernardaud became the partner of R. Delinières in the R. Delinières & Cie. Five years later the company was dissolved and replaced by the new company L. Bernardaud & Cie. In 1919 the company opened office in New York. Maker's Marks: These pieces have the printed green mark of 'D & Co' over a solid line, but it omits 'France' below that was used by R. Delinières from ca. 1894 until 1900. Also displayed are printed red marks in script of 'R. Delinières & Cie' over 'Limoges'. Obviously, both of these marks precede the dissolution of the company, and being succeeded by the company L. Bernardaud & Cie in 1900. Since the green mark does not show "France" as part of it's stamp, I believe these marks precede the ones used from 1894 to 1900. I would estimate the date of production to be 1890 or earlier. Condition: There are no chips, cracks, repairs of crazing. Light wear to inner gold ring and trim on edge. Filigree does not show much wear. Minimal utensil marks and light shelf wear to the soles.
