Lemonnyer in 1882. This was a re-issue which contains a suite of engravings from the 1795 edition, suplemented with new etchings by Martial after the 1795 edition. This particular print is from a Japan proof edition-de-luxe with the etchings in two states (plain and bistre) on paper imported from the Imperial Factory of Japan, printed in only 100 copies to subscribers. Total cost at the time was 500 francs. Artists and Engravers: The engravings / etchings in this work are after the erotic and spirited designs of the famous French artist Jean-Honere Fragonard (1732-1806) as illustrations for the famous stories by Jean de la Fontaine. This plate engraved by Adolphe Theodore Jules Martial Potemont(1828-1883). This prolific French etcher exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1846-1882.
