Description: London Doctor’s Pocket WatchEdwards,London, 1826Silver pair cases, 55.5 mmVerge escapement A verge escapement watch, in silver pair cases, with regulator style dial (doctor’s watch), large seconds dial and stop work.MOVEMENT : A gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock, four round pillars, and Bosley type regulator.A steel lever under the dial at 4 allows the movement to be stopped and restarted.Signed Edwards, LONDON and numbered 7213.Running well with the stop lever working correctly.DIAL : A white enamel dial, with attractive gold outlined subsidiary hours/minutes and seconds dialsIn good condition, but with a few light scratches and a very light hairline running across the hour/minute dial from 9 to 3.Gilt hands, with serpentine seconds (a little short).INNER CASE : Silver, with Birmingham hallmarks for 1826, maker’s mark VR.In good condition, though with the usual scratches around the opening catch. The bezel snaps shut correctly.The high dome crystal is ok, though with a few tiny chips around the edge almost hidden by the bezel. The bow and stem are original.OUTER CASE : A silver outer case, with hallmarks matching the inner.The silver is in very good condition, with just a few tiny dents to the back.. The hinge, catch and catch button are good, and the case snaps shut correctly.The case maker is Vale & Rotherham of Coventry.
