Description: Very old ship captain's inkwell with a wide and heavy base, five holes for quills and a center hole for ink. Does not have any kind of lid nor does it have any indication of any hinge to hold a lid. Unmarked; could be American made but there is no indication of origin. Base measures 7 inches in diameter, in pot about 3.25 inches wide. Quite a bit of age and use related wear including shallow scratches, minor dents, some staining and modest pitting.
