Born on May 28, 1825, in the 8th year of the Bunsei era. Son of Suzuki Seikai. He studied under Ōnishi Chūnen of the Maruyama school. In the 13th year of the Meiji era, he became a teacher of the Northern School at the Kyoto Prefectural Painting School upon its establishment. He excelled in landscape and bird-and-flower paintings, and his many disciples came to be known as the Suzuki school. He passed away on December 26, 1891, at the age of 67. Originally from Kyoto, his given name was Seijū, his courtesy name was Shikō, and his common name was Zusho. He also used the art name Taichinō.
