Description: Antique Painted White Glass Cameo Silver Tone C Clasp 19th Century Brooch Pin This lovely old cameo from the mid to late 1800s is preowned, was part of a cameo collection and is in acceptable condition for the right person. This brooch appears to be made of white glass and then at some point was hand painted perhaps to make it look more like pearl or maybe even gold. The brooch is missing a lot of the enamel and most of what is showing is the white glass but the off white color is the enamel or paint. There is a little spot on the chin missing enamel as well. The oval piece is set inside a silver tone frame that has been tested for silver content (it is not silver). The oval glass piece does move a bit as it is not glued to the frame but placed and secured inside the frame. There does not appear to be any chips or cracks in the glass. The brooch measures approximately 1 & 1/2" long x 1& 1/8" wide. The brooch has an old fashioned C clasp that is tight and it takes a bit of work to get that pin secured back inside the side clasp. The pin is also bent. Conditional issues are the missing paint from use, age, wear in addition to slight movement inside the casement frame, a tight fitting pin, a bent pin, surface scratches, tarnish and/or verdigris and patina. In addition, the back of the cameo has a light age discoloration. It's a nice collectible antique jewelry item that was originally made with a great deal of quality and care. It is still in acceptable condition and a nice little piece of history too. It's so interesting to think of where this brooch has been in it's lifetime.
