Antique Original Mid-Victorian Striped Silk Taffeta Bodice Mint/Museum Quality

Description: Offering tonight is a handmade original Mid-Victorian ballgown bodice in mint condition that has been part of my personal collection for many years. Dating from the 1850's through the 1860's period, the bodice is constructed from striped silk taffeta in two shades of purple and lined with a white polished cotton. The low-necked bodice is off-the-shoulder with piped seams at the sleeves. The bodice closes in back with corset lacing and the original laces are present; matching the shade of royal blue silk featured along the wide neckline and beautifully applied in ruched bands on the short sleeves. The bodice has the original channels for boning, but the bones, or stays, are no longer present. Measurements are: Bust 30" Top of shoulder to shoulder is 17 1/2" across Length from top shoulder to waist is 13 1/2" or 19" long to bottom of center point Waist is 23" Sleeves are 7" long from piped seam to end of lace trim This is such a pristine original textile with no shattering of silk or trimmings; the fabric is still strong and flawless with no stains or tears. I know whoever buys this bodice will love it! Too bad the skirt of the ballgown has been lost, but the bodice being so well-preserved almost makes up for it.
