Description: This is an original antique (late 19th century) needlepoint sampler featuring Christian prayer and celluloid Mary holding Jesus in the center with angels on the sides. Roughly translated, the prayer reads "Mary help in every need, our advocate with God". The sampler is framed in the original gold gilt wood frame with acanthus leaf border. On the back is a name written in pencil that was likely the needlepoint artist, Leo Bohman. Condition is excellent. The entire piece is solid, sturdy, and fully functional and the needlepoint is protected behind the original wavy, bubbly glass. The paper has a slight crease and some yellowing from age, but is otherwise excellent. There is little to no fading to the thread or celluloid. It is a stunning piece all around! Outer dimensions of the frame are 15" W x 19 1/2" H. It will be packed securely, double boxed, and fully insured during shipping.
