I can't find an actual Bodnar on the ship, but the obituary links to Bodnar as the maiden name of the mother of a former crewman, which makes me wonder if at some point she took it back and he followed suit or if there was a brother or son by that name. You can, of course, do more research, if this piece interests you, but it doesn't date to WW2. It's newer than that. Condition: Used with wear associated with age, use, and poor storage. It is way smaller than a modern size 38. Sizing changed between then and now, so the size cannot be determined except by looking at the actual measurements. Some cat hair and dust. Not sure about the piece of tape. It predates the end of the ship's service life in 1974, so it's of decent vintage and will of course show flaws because of that.
