Description: Antique / vintage hand-made goggles, most likely for motorcycle riding, possibly for driving or aviation. 7" wide went flattened. Hand-stitched leather with green plastic lenses. Leather side-flaps which also each have a green lens in the forward part. ( the side-flaps are about 1/3 green lens and about 2/3 leather ) Leather frill along the lower edge. Hand-stitched leather eyebrow/forehead padding. Elastic cloth strap with small metal buckle. Pretty old - 1940s ? 1930s ? earlier? not sure; hand-made so it's hard to tell. --------- Condition. This pair of goggles is the real thing and was clearly much used. The leather is fairly stiff with age. The elastic-cloth strap is broken but still present ( see the photos ) The googles were stored in the folded position for many years. They are folded in the "forward" instead of the "back" position. Because the leather is fairly stiff the goggles don't lay flat but try to return to the partly folded position when opened. ( see the photos ) The green plastic lenses are still pretty flexible and have no cracks, though they are scuffed and have cloudy spotting. Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
