Description: Large antique bone and brass hinged octagonal storage box of Moroccan design. Hand made from wood, this ornamental box has eight sides and the top inlaid with sections of carved bone framed by tooled brass. Each side has a center cabochon embellishment of either turquoise or coral. There are brass and bone hinged handles on each side and a knob for raising the lid. The inside is lined with leather, and there are braided leather strips to keep the top from falling back. The bottom has a metal makers mark. Good preowned condition. No missing inlay pieces or cabochons. Hinge at back works perfectly. The front, under the knob, had a hinged clasp, but that is now missing. The interior has some oxidization on the metal tacks(?) attaching the leather hinge supports.
