Description: This listing is for a superb Antique Hanging Salt, Tobacco, Or Candle Box made of copper on brass with an interior metal lining. It features extremely Ornate hand done Repousse work, the main motifs of which are a Family Crest on the lid, and a green man face on the front section. The whole is surrounded by leafy trailing patterns backed with delicate stippling. It is likely from the early 19th century (1800s) or 18th century (1700s). It is signed on the lower back “G R” but I have not been able to identify an exact maker. An extremely well made piece of the highest quality of the time, likely for a notable person or family. The design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of decor styles. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! A great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor. It is in good condition, with no major damage. Has some wear from use and polishes through the years (see photos) one tiny hole in the lid.
