Description: This beautiful, antique, porcelain lidded ginger jar/urn from the Meiji Period, Wucai-Style, from Japan features hand-painted, flowering branches and multi-colored blossoms with gilt gold accents throughout, on a pale pink and pale mint colored background. The multi-color design and intricate hand-painted details make it a stunning piece for any collector of Asian antiques. The gilt gold accents are stunning with a brushed look around the lid's edge, a beautiful starburst on the circular handle, detailed branches and stems, and gilt accents delicately-applied to all of the blossoms. The blossoms are quite lovely — delicate white blooms and a mix of pink, yellow and blue starburst-like, fluffy flowers. There are two identical Japanese character markings on this exquisite piece, on on the edge of the bottom of the lid and one on the bottom. The markings helped in my research of this jar, and it is believed to date from the Meiji period (1900-1940) and is in excellent vintage condition, especially considering its age. The only minor condition issues are a few, VERY tiny impressed pin point-sized dings (see photos) that are not damage to the piece, but was done when this was created. Very small and not obvious. There are a few small areas of discoloration on the jar, however, the paint is fully-intact, and these areas could be carefully cleaned. Finally, there is a bit of rust on the very bottom, possibly due to where it was placed over the last century, but again, this is on the bottom and cannot be seen when displayed. Just a gorgeous jar from the Meiji period, crafted in the Wucai-Style, one that has been meticulously cared for over the past century. This jar is 6.75" height by 5.5 inches length at the widest part. Please message me with any questions, and thanks for looking!
