Description: This is a very old jar from the Clyde NY Glass Works. About 50 years ago I purchased this jar with a group of others in Clyde NY at an estate sale. It was pretty old already then. The text on the front of the jar is "MASON'S CFJ Co IMPROVED". The text on the reverse side of the jar is "CLYDE, NY." The text on the glass lid is "CLYDE GLASS WORKS, CLYDE, N.Y." So the glass lid and the jar are a good match which is unusual. There is a sealing gasket which is stuck in place and it is not broken, but of course, it is too old to be used for sealing. The color of the glass is mostly clear but also slightly pink. I am not guaranteeing that this is an SCA jar as I don't have the equipment to test it. As I posted in the condition statement: there is a small chip in the glass lid. Also, in regard to the jar, it is hard to tell if it is an original imperfection or later damage that looks like a chip on the inside but no damage on the outside (this is found near the base on the reverse side of the jar) I have witnessed these imperfections in the pictures. The zinc ring is in excellent condition and is worth quite a bit as they are getting scarce. This jar has been in my collection for many years, and I'm having to sell the collection now.
