Description: Antique John Bruce & Sons Liverpool Binoculars Makers To the Admiralty RARE Collectible. John Bruce & Son were based in Liverpool around 1867 and were makers to the Admiralty with Graces Guide listing them as ‘Nautical, Engineering & Scientific Manufactures’. Later they were listed as members of B.N.I.TA and appeared on Admiralty, Air Ministry and Colonial lists. Most of their products that come up for auction seem to be Chronometers, Barometers and Compasses so I feel these binoculars are a rare find but as to their purpose, whether it be nautical, air or general I do not know. I am also unable to give an accurate date of manufacture but I suspect it would be the late 19th century/early 20th century. They are in good working order and come in their original leather case, although the carry strap is missing. Please note the leather work is old and very fragile. This item is antique and comes with a history, so will have wear commensurate to its age. The listing is done to the best of my knowledge so please do take care to read the description and look at all the photos for clarification of the style and condition of this piece and if you have any questions kindly message me. Thank you for looking
