Description: 1929 ANTIQUE INDIANA BAND Co. ELKHART SILVER-PLATED SAXOPHONE Low Pitch A - SERIAL NUMBER # 4134 with case ,mouthpiece, neck cap, neck string strap, 2 reeds. Saxophone is in great cosmetic shape and does play from a novice testing. But it is an older saxophone, so I’m not sure what it could need if it was to be used by an expert. Took lots of pictures of everything I could see small ding on the mouthpiece.(see picture.) there’s no major dents. Saxophone really is beautiful. And is an early serial number so fortunately it was well taken care of Will be shipped out fast and safe in 24 hours or less wrapped up with bubble wrap inside the case and the case will be wrapped with bubble wrap and cardboarded Added information I was sent about the saxophone and the company: 1) The Indiana Band Instrument Co was launched by Martin in April 1929 with its own serial number system. While it has errors, the best source is horn-u-copia.net. 2) The original intent of Indiana BIC was similar to Conn's Pan American subsidiary and Buescher's, Elkhart BIC subsidiary. It was to produce student instruments and stencils. After WWII Indiana was simply a model of Martin. Many of the owners of Conn Ltd also owned or controlled Buescher and Elkhart Band Instrument Co. In 1929 through stock swap Elkhart became a wholly owned subsidiary of Buescher. 3) Also, in 1929 Conn attempted, though stock swap to make Buescher a wholly owned subsidiary. Owing to a suit by another Buescher director, the plan failed. However, Conn stockholders maintained their controlling interest in Buescher.
