Description: This is a very RARE opportunity to acquire likely a one-of-a-kind piece of NYC history. Dating to the very early 1900’s this commemorative hand- crafted single (letter?) DRAWER BOX features a Sterling Silver placard that reads: HABIRSHAW WIRES & CABLE THE INDIA RUBBER & G.P. INS. CO. 159 FRONT ST. NEW YORK (See company history below) The placard is enough to make this drawer box highly collectible but my favorite feature is the DRAWER PULL. It consists of a series of Habirshaw cross-cut cables in, most likely, India rubber, wrapped by a ring of brass. I would guess like me, you’ve never seen anything quite like it. The drawer has two pull out wood slats and is felt lined. The construction of the box with the dovetail joints on both the box and the drawer are simply exquisite.
