Description: This vintage goose feather tree has 73 branches displayed in 13 tiers, plus a 7" vertical top branch, for a total height of 69 inches. Width of bottom tier is 31 inches. The feathers are smooth to the touch and are two-toned in color, muted silver and light green. The silver-toned feathers catch the light (see close-up photo). All of the branches are full and pliable, not brittle, allowing flexibility in placing ornaments. It is missing no branches, and all branches are securely attached. The trunk of the tree is wooden and is wrapped in what looks like a thin, brown crepe paper covering fine wire, circling up the trunk. This paper has become detached in several places, but I left any desired repair to its new owner. (See photos.) As to its age, my best guess is 1930s, based on research and other trees available for sale. Although feather trees were made in Germany in the late1800s, it seems unlikely one in condition this good could be that old--but who knows! It is likely that Germany is the country of origin, but the tree is unmarked. Please note that the tree has no stand. It is shown standing in a vase for purposes of taking pictures.
