Description: Rare antique gilt sterling silver mounted pop out repousse American coins watch fob. The three coins are a 1908 half dollar, a 1908 quarter and a 1911 dime. Total length of fob is 6" and the weight is 26.8 grams. The fob is in very good condition with only some light losses to gilt finish. Excellent detail throughout. The fronts of the coins have been pressed forward so that Miss Lady Liberty is now in a three dimensional form. They are truly a work of art. This unique process was patented by two men on two separate occasions. The first by W.A. Malilet of New Jersey in the year 1903 and the second time by George Kepler from New York in 1904. The process would push the face on the coin forward or outward to create this three dimensional face. The fob is most likely from one of these manufacturers. Please enlarge all pics for best details.
