The breif history provided by the owner of the coin. The 1876 Mark was pegged to Gold (also called a Goldmark). The Goldmark became the Papiermark in 1914. This coin was last used to purchase bread from a baker in 1918. By 1918 German coins were rare since most coins had been melted down to make armaments for the war.
