Description: A beautiful antique French Porcelain Veilleuse / Nightlight, tea warmer. This wonderful pot features a hand-painted scene of a man and woman with another man behind a curtain brandishing a sword. It may be perhaps a scene from William Shakesphere's Hamlet in Act 3, scene 4, in Gertrude's room when Polonius hides behind a tapestry. Hamlets entrance so alarms Gertrude, and she screams and cries out for help as does Polonius. Hamlet thinking Polonius to be Claudius stabs him to death! It measures approx. 7-1/2" tall x 4" wide at both the top and base, which you can see in the pictures. It's in excellent condition with no cracks or crazing to the porcelain on the outside. There is the tiniest chirp to the porcelain in picture #10 of this listing. It's so small that it was very difficult to pick it up with the camera, and it sits on the inside rim of the piece, so when it's displayed, you cannot pick it up with your eye. You would have to pick up the base and turn it over to inspect it and see the chirp. It has three pieces consisting of a base, teapot and lid. Again, all are in great condition. The spout has no breakage or chirps and features a whimsical dragon spout. Note: I will combine shipping on multiple purchases upon request. Also, I'm always happy to answer questions, so please feel free to ask them. Additional pictures are available upon request for serious inquiries only, please. Thanks for looking!
