Description: Here we have a wonderful, antique quality rounded edged brass cachepot. I have tried to research the coat of arms to the centre but found no match. I am pretty sure this is French in origin as I have had a similar piece in the past. It has the appearance of brass but could be "yellow copper" as it has some copper showing through. It has impressed fleur de lys decoration to either side as well as fruit bowl to one side. It was four quality, very grand looking feet with claw and ball detail. I think this has really good age to it, I would imagine early to mid 19th century. It has a brazen dovetail like cramp seam to the underside which confirms its pre 1900. It has quality, detailed lion mask handles with ring loops, the pot is finished with a sort of rope twist border. It measures approximately 18.5 inches including handles, 17.25 inches without by 5.75 inches by just under 9 inches tall weighing just over 1.75kg. Perfect for herbs, cacti or a flowers on the windowsill. This is the only one on eBay of course so get it while you can! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
