Antique French 18K Gold Amethyst Pearl Double Pendulum Negligee Necklace

Description: This gorgeous necklace was made in France towards the end of the 19th Century or around 1900 (Belle Epoque and late Victorian times). Hand made, engraved, decorated and with Calibre cut natural deep purple amethysts, especially prepared for the piece. An 18K yellow gold (marked with Eagle's head) round rope chain, holds the main element. It has two clasps, one on each side, so you can open the necklace any side convenient. The central element (18K) is set with two round amethysts, 4mm each , with Cannetille like framing. It holds two dangling pendulum like elements. The pendulums are designed in the "razor edge" effect – like knife blades seen as a thin delicate line from the front but actually deep and strong enough to hold the stones and settings. The pendulums are deliberately in different lengths (40mm and 52mm). Each is set with a round 4mm amethyst, cannetille framed. At the bottom is a round faceted concave amethyst (12mm), set in the center with a gold flower and a tiny pearl in its center. The lower frame around is delicately engraved and is 5/8" / 15mm in diameter. Overall condition is excellent, except that one of the larger amethysts under loupe magnification shows a fine hairline, it is hardly noticed, but nevertheless I was assured by my jeweler that it the stone is safe and well held.
