Description: wow here is an early PA paint decorated document box ! the old paint was done sometime in the early 1900s , this is done to simulate oak I would imagine, popular in the amish communities of lancaster county at the time, they always took old things and found a way to make them or revive them , oak at that time was in fashion in the us. This box has its 1800s green under that grain paint, the box is dovetailed all hand made, square nails as well, some old repairs around hinges , box works fine, there is no key , the keeper is off but present . this is a nice early primitive with a good look
