It is an Original Oil on Canvas from the 2nd half of the 19th C., in the style of the English Landscape school - Majestic, sometimes Foreboding, Sweeping and Realistic, but with an aura or glow about it. A figure, a woman in period clothing, approaches a riverside mansion down a narrow dirt path. Wood pilings poke out where boats may have moored as the winding river opens up in the distance, with two sailboats gliding along. The piece is unsigned but the mystery artist was quite talented. There is craquelure (fine network of cracks on the surface) throughout the piece, expected in a piece this age.
