Description: Geaux Vintage Antiques 19th century Antique English Trunk Coffer Blanket Chest Carved Oak Foyer Table Direct from England, a wonderfully hand carved English “coffer”, “mule chest” or trunk! Regardless of what you call it, this chest has superb hand carving on all four sides. It has traditional “mule chest” construction, 4 ft length, and includes two lower drawers, which gives it additional height (34.5”), making it suitable for a foyer piece as well as sofa table or, of course, for linen storage in a bedroom. Back to the hand carvings, with geometric designs on the beveled edge lid; the hand planed carved front features two carved panels framed by wide bands of carvings that also feature geometric designs and prior arches. Each of the two lower drawers have carved fronts with twin brass handles. Note the hand carvings are continued on both sides as well as down the bracket feet; quality construction, circa1820, 200 years old!!!! Measurements: 34.5” ht. x 48.5” x 20.5”.
