The shaft is made of hardwood with a very attractive grain (birdseye maple?) and the ornately embossed handle is gold filled and brass, complementing the warmth of the color of the shaft. The tip is made of a different wood and it shows little wear. Everything is in excellent condition with no repairs or damage, just minor wear and patina commensurate with age.
