Some history on the bottle indicates that a Koppel Kurnitzki was listed in the Charleston South Carolina Directory of 1886 as a Tonic Manufacturer located at 30-32 Market Street in Charleston. By 1890 the spelling of his last name changed to Kurnistki and he is then listed as a Whole Sale Distributor of Tobacco and Cigars located at 211 East Bay Street with his residence at 62 Society Street in Charleston.
