Description: Very rare original cast iron street sign used in Birmingham England circa 1905-1915. Was mounted on the side of a building at an intersection via its four mounting holes. Park Street still exists in Birmingham, and it only runs for two blocks, which means this is one of possibly only 4 Park Street signs that were cast, and most likely the only one to survive. Birmingham was the only British city that used this fancy casting with scalloped outer border, beaded inner border, and beautiful fleur-de-lis scroll ends. Most British city street signs of the era, even in London, were rather plain with no, or little, embellishment. One owner since 1974. Pewter border paint, maroon red background, white letters. Weighs 24 lbs. 38-1/4" x 8-1/4" x 1".
