ANTIQUE CAMBRIDGE GLASS INTAGLIO TULIP PATTERN CRYSTAL TOOTHPICK HOLDER EAPG

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ANTIQUE CAMBRIDGE GLASS INTAGLIO TULIP PATTERN CRYSTAL TOOTHPICK HOLDER EAPGA beautiful piece of early American made pattern glass in the form of a lovely little octagon shaped toothpick holder. I believe that this piece was made by the Cambridge Glass Company, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio. The pattern is known as “Intaglio,” but the actual pattern number is unknown, but appears to me to contain a tulip flower blossom in the pattern. This is a very neat piece. First, it was made as a piece of pressed glass with a floral pattern in relief molded into the piece, then the exterior of the piece was frosted (etched to a satin finish with acid), then the entire exterior of the piece was cut, faceted and polished to leave the frosted floral pattern in relief for a beautiful effect. A true piece of art glass and it is amazing to me how much labor was put into such a small piece. It is a very high-quality piece of hand- made pressed crystal or clear colored glass as you would expect from this company. This piece has been part of my personal toothpick holder collection since 2013. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” & “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. While I don’t see this exact pattern, very similar patterns and shapes to this toothpick are pictured on page 110 in the 1970 book The Cambridge Glass Co. Cambridge, Ohio: A Reprint Of Parts Of Old Company Catalogs Book I by Mary, Lyle and Lynn Welker. Due to the fact that there are other pieces pictured here that are made in this exact same shape, pattern, style, and manner, I am attributing this piece to the Cambridge Glass Company. Since this piece is larger, and 8 sided rather than 10 sided, to a very similar known Cambridge Glass toothpick holder (# 1035), I will also mention that this could be a mustard bottom. Regardless, I enjoyed this piece as part of my toothpick holder collection for many years. If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about toothpick holders and collecting them at their website.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please take a moment and visit our eBay store “TNK Antiques.” You can access our store through a link in any of our eBay listings. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionThis piece dates to circa 1910. It is in excellent to near mint condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There is some minor roughness (tiny flea bites) to the outside edge at the base and to the inside edge of the top rim; and I also see one small shallow flake on the inside edge of the top rim. To me this is all very minor and really just something I expect to see on a 110+ year old piece of glass. Otherwise, there are no other chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 1.625” (4.1 cm) across and sits about 2.25” (5.7 cm) off the table. Approximate WeightAbout 3.625 ounces (102 grams).
