Description: I seldom obtain an item that pictures simply will not do it justice. This is one of them. Its true beauty and craftsmanship can only be fully appreciated in person. The following is from an antique appraiser: This is very beautifully crafted and the initials MFB and date of 1886 are written on the bottom. This is most likely from the original owner, and not relating to the manufacturer. Although I do not know the manufacturer of this piece, it is nice to have a connection with the owner and the date to go along. This is very consistent with the late 1800s in construction, and is a wonderful hand-carved Victorian foot stool. Probably English, and probably oak. This was constructed with wooden pegs, and glue would have been used to secure it. The feet also show typical wear that would be consistent with a 100+ year old piece, such as this one one.
