Description: This is a rare collectible copper stud button that features characters from Puck magazine. Puck magazine was founded by Joseph Keppler in 1786. It was the first successful humorous magazine in the United States of cartoons and political satire issues of the day. It was in circulation from 1876 to 1918. This stud button is 1" and highly detailed. Punch sitting, feather pen in hand, looking at the latest issue of his magazine, dated Nov. 1878 with dog Toby by his side. The back of the button is marked "The Patent Safety Solitaire". There is a tiny metal piece on each side that when pressed release the stud on the back so it can be attached to a garment. The button is in very good condition.
