Description: Antique Brass Ship Binnacle Gimble Compass. This compass is such a cool piece of history. It is made of brass, the glass window is intact with no damage, the compass moves freely as the binnacle is tilted in any direction. There is an oil lamp compartment on the side. There is no cap for the resevoir. The underside of the binnacle is coated with a white enamel (see photos). The compass still has its liquid inside, the glass is intact with no damage. The face of the compass is completely readable. This binnacle has some pretty good patina to it. I have not attempted to clean it in any way. The oil lamp compartment has some oil residue that needs cleaned/scraped out of it(see photos) I will leave this up to the buyer. I did not want to risk damaging this piece. There is one dent on the backside of the top dome (see photo). I have included measurements in the photos. Please let me know if you have any questions, I will do my very best to answer them.
