Round in shape with a moldedanimal motif and Latin inscription, original brassclapper. This bell was rung by an altar boy duringthe consecration of the host at mass (rung 3 separate times). This came from the old estate of a priest fromTaylor, Pennsylvania, USA. Circa late 1800's. This isbelieved to have been made in England as Taylor'searly emigres were predominately English and Welsh. Latin inscriptions and biblical scenes are inscribedaround the middle: NO MAKERS MARKS. AQVILA AGNVS X PELICANVS X LEOMeaning: aquila (eagle - flying closest to Heaven), agnus (Lamb of God), pelicanus (pelican - representing Christ's sacrifice), and Leo (Lion of Judah). Weighs 5.8 ounces. Measurements:1 and 1/2" in diameter (top),2 and 1/4" in diameter (bottom),2 and 1/4" in height. EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CONDITION.Super clean. No damage.
