Description: Antique Brass Gun Black Powder Flask w/Hunter, Dog, Deer Graphics Mid/Late 1800s Click image to enlarge Description Offered for your consideration is an antique black powder flask for a musket. Made of brass, I am guessing that the flask is from the mid to late 1800s. I do not detect any marks or maker or origin on the flask, but it was made by the American Flask and Cap Company, as referenced in Riling's book page 200. The flask has an embossed scene of a hunter sitting by a tree, with his kill (deer) behind him, and his trusted companion, his dog close by his side. Hanging from the tree is a horn, a flask and the hunter's possibles bag. Overall, the flask is in very good 'as found' condition, with signs of use and handling, including some light denting, but nothing to detract from the detail of the graphics. There appear to be 2 repairs (solders), at the seam shoulders of the flask, but look to have been quite some time ago. The spring does not appear to be working. I have made no attempts to polish the flask, therefore it retains an aged patina. It measures 9 1/2" in length and is about 1 3/4" at the widest and has a weight of about 8 ounces.
