Description: Late 19thC Antique Black Forest Hand~Carved Wood Corner Wall Shelf~Chamois Goat~Glass Eyes. A superb large Black Forest corner wall bracket shelf from the late 1800s. Adorned with a majestic Ibex/Chamois Goat seen in profile. This corner bracket can only be the work of a master carver. The perfect shape of its head and the details of his mouth, nose and around his perfect glass eyes are second to none. The ears, the horns and the hair that cover this ibex too are among the best you will ever find. The pierced background on which the animal stands out is decorated with naturalistic carved oak leafs. Circa 1890. Great addition to any collection. In very good overall condition with minor usual marks/scuffs etc commensurate with age and use, including surface scratches. Some possible old restoration on the pierced branch work.Small loss to two end tips of the oak leafs on the left as shown....nothing major,but noted. Will display well in any period,contemporary setting.Please see all photos,taken from all angles in good daylight for true condition.Please note this item is old (over 130 years) and has wear and tear commensurate with age and use.Maximum height x width x depth when up in the corner: Measures overall 11.75" / 30 cms tall with the top shelf measuring 16" /40.5 cms across corner to corner with a maximum depth of 12" / 31.5 cms at centre.
