Description: A 3 5/8 inch tall rectangular-shaped clear-glass antique BAYER HEROIN HYDROCHLORIDE TABLETS bottle that is both EMBOSSED (with a small substance control label) on one side, and a FULL LABEL on the other side. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE BAYER BOTTLE, but the label is a REPRODUCED FACSIMILE label, a color photo COPY of an original label that went on this bottle. Note that the BAYER embossing is in a cross design and the Bayer Cross is one of the world’s best-known trademarks and was registered in 1904. The BAYER CROSS is also embossed on top of the tin cap that is on this bottle! This bottle here was the very VERY FIRST STYLE of bottle used by FREDERICK BAYER and it is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a ground-top, dating back to very early 1900. Bottle embossed: "BAYER / BAYER", in cross pattern, the earliest style used by Bayer. And the "BAYER / BAYER" cross is also embossed on top of the tin cap that is on this bottle! Condition: This bottle is in GOOD SOLID condition. It has minor content stain and age wear but there's nothing specifically wrong with it. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. The top is a ground top, which was how these were hand blown into mold and then ground down to level the top so that a cap would fit on it. The cap IS original and repetition for emphasis, the cap is also embossed "BAYER / BAYER" in the cross pattern. Though the cap is original it is old and corroded. It fits okay, it screws on and off okay, and it completes the bottle's look. PLEASE see pictures to get good idea of the bottle's overall appearance and condition. Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-lip, ca. early 1900. Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. We DO ship International but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. This is the VERY FIRST style of the rectangular-shaped bottle used by Bayer. As noted, the BAYER embossing in the cross design is one of the world’s best-known trademarks and was registered in 1904. The bottle for sale here is the FIRST STYLE of this bottle used by FREDERICK BAYER and were designed to hold pills and tablets. There were originally two (2) sizes and styles, this is the larger rectangular shape, there is also a smaller oval shaped that contained less. Most all of the 'antique' Bayer bottles you see for sale on the internet are the newer bottles with the word Bayer just embossed on each side, these original bottles with embossing in cross are rarely seen for sale, hard to find! Bayer started producing HEROIN in the late 1800's. Using the name Heroin, supposedly because early testers said it made them feel heroic, like heros, and Bayer began selling it in tablet form in the 1890's. By 1899, Bayer was producing about a ton of heroin a year, and was eventually exporting the drug to other countries as well, including the USA. But reports of HEROIN addiction reached gigantic proportions so in the early 19-teens, Bayer wisely elected to withdraw from Heroin production. Bayer had released their aspirin tablets at about the time they were producing heroin and so they dropped the heroin production and turned all of its resources to the manufacturer of aspirin, as aspirin, the 'new' non-addictive painkiller and anti-inflammatory, was well on its way to becoming the most popular drug ever. Note how you are starting to see labeled bottles with this same style label on them, on eBay? All of these are coming from the original 4 bottles that WE had and sold on eBay. Note that none of them are ORIGINAL BAYER BOTTLES, like this one is, but just junk blank bottles that weren't ever pill bottles, and yet folks are paying way too much for them? At least this one HERE is the ORIGINAL DEAL, a true ORIGINAL antique BAYER bottle, HAND BLOWN INTO MOLD (bim) dating it as the earliest style, check it out! PLEASE do NOT steal my title, description, items specifics, or pictures, etc., we worked hard to put all of this info together!Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
