ANTIQUE ART DECO WOMAN'S WATCH -GEMEX 1/20 12KGF BAND- OCTAGON FACE =WORKING=

Description: PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE NO SPECIFIC EXPERTISE IN THE FIELD OF VINTAGE WATCHES....VIEW PHOTOGRAPHS, READ DESCRIPTION AND DEPEND ON YOUR OWN KNOWLEDGE!! THANKS! This beautiful Estate ladies' wristwatch was found within a grouping of vintage jewelry and it appeared special leading to the RETRO RESCUE! Exact age is unknown, however my knowledge of basic shapes and styles by era leads me to believe that the octagon shape reflects items from the late 30's or most likely 1940's (I did find some print ads for Gemex bands dated in the late 1940's). The fold-over "Z" clasp is marked GEMEX 1/20 12KGF Made in USA. No Manufacturer for the watch itself is printed on the face and I didn't feel comfortable removing the back of the case. The GOLD numbers on the lighter gold backing together with the centered black octagon adds to the deco design! Styling is gorgeous with ornate leaf/vine designs on four of the face panels in addition to decorative designs along the sides of the case. Closed, the bracelet band has a roughly 5 3/4" perimeter. When the 1" closure is fully opened, perimeter is around 7". For days I have wound the watch 3-4 times and noted the time. Each time the watch runs for about 6 hours.
