Description: Antique Acropolis Purple Transferware Large Soup Tureen Lid circa 1840 For sale is this purple transferware soup tureen lid in the desirable Acropolis pattern. Just the lid, but what a lid! The lid is 9 1/8 inches long by 7 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches tall and weighs 1 lb 4 oz. It is molded with a splendid large floral knob and printed in an exuberant Romantic scene of the Acropolis, with an ornate floral border. It has the "Acropolis" maker's mark in cartouche printed on the inside the lid, but without maker's initials. This pattern was made by several potteries. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs. Please view the detail photos. It has been checked with black light. The shipping weight is 4 lbs. Domestic shipping is $7.95.
