Description: For sale is a plate probably made by one of the Thuringia makers most likely Gotha around the early 19th century . It is hand painted with a very detailed scene of Burg Schwerdtberg which is located in Oberoestereich ( somewhere towards northern Austria) in mostly brown tones. The castle is in the center of a landscape scene with lots of trees, a guy in a boat on a river and a lady carrying some firewood over her head walking down the road. I love these old plates with scenes on them as it gives you a glimpse into the way things used to be! The plate is of great quality and has a nice gold rim. It is in super condition with a tiny bit of wear. It is marked underneath the scene with the title Burg Schwerdtberg in an old writing style and spelling no longer used. I own Gotha plates that are not marked from this time period but it might be another maker similar to them as well. The plate is 1 inch tall and 8 inches in diameter.
