Description: Antique 19th (or possibly 18th) Century French Hand Painted Mother of Pearl Framed Paper Fan. The fan itself measures roughly 10" x 20" when spread out. The frame measures 13 1/4" x 23 5/8" x 1.75". This stunning fan features three hand painted scenes of what is likely a noble family. It has mother of pearl slats with a lovely silver inlay. It is beautifully hand carved. It is hand signed with what looks to be "BV. 1120." It still has its original tassel. The framing is also antique and happened at the famous historical site of 5 BLVD DE LA MADELEINE in Paris, which adds even more to the history! There is some wear to edges and creases (some tears) of the fan and the silver inlay. There is what appears to be a repair on the left side. It also shows a slight separation between the fan and the handle. The framing is also old, and is in need of some repair. It still has some issues with the fabric and could use some wood glue? There is some wear to the gold gilt and the staples aren't pushed in (they are still there though!). Please see photos for reference/condition and let me know if you have any questions.
