Description: Antique 19th C English Imari Porcelain Flowering Tree Plate 8 1/2" Old Repairs Here is a very beautiful antique 19th C Imari porcelain plate with old staple repairs. I believe that it is English in origin. I don't see a maker's mark. It measures about 8 1/2" in diameter. There is an old shallow chip/flake to top outer edge around 5 o'clock measuring not quite 1/2" long. There is an old complex staple repair visible on underside around 3 o'clock. It is surprisingly inconspicuous on the top side. There is some old adhesive residue visible on underside in this area. There is what looks like an additional star type complex hairline on underside inside footrim but as best I can tell it does not go through to the top side. There is a minor flake to foot. There is some allover crazing visible on very close examination. There is some darkening of craze lines near staple repair. There is an area of "peppering" to back side edge, done in the making. Gold trim is in excellent condition overall with a few areas of rubbing to outside edge. There are some fine lines to gold from handling/storage etc but I don't see any utensil marks. Not "perfect" but displays beautifully and still a worthwhile piece. Please see photos.
