Description: This offering is for an antique circa 1850's daguerreotype photograph of a young writer. The young man is featured in a seated view, with on hand holding and early dip pen and his other hand on his lap. Also visible are a sheet of paper under his writing hand and a large ink bottle having a paper label. The bottle is an early utility style that appears to have a rolled lip rather than a pour lip. The original full case and mat are in in nice condition and the velvet pad has a great embossed butterfly decoration. The image is a sixth plate in size measuring app. 2 3/4" by 3 1/4". The image has very good focus and the contrast is better than average. The seals are in place but appear to be loose and split in spots. There is some tarnish visible at the edges near the mat opening most notably at the top right hand side.
