Description: For sale is a pair of authentic antique 1830-1840 American made brass plinth fireplace/hearth andirons with classic ribbed and faceted finale and beautifully spurred legs over ball feet. The very unique style of andiron is a classic 1830 American design which is featured in the Antique Brass reference book page 82A. The horizontal arms which holds the logs are attached to the front piece with large hand hammered rivet. The ribbed finale and the arched feet has great age appropriate wear and patina and has a fine seam that suggests that it is early brass work. Authenticity guaranteed. Not a reproduction. Each andiron measures 18” tall, 17.5” deep, and 10” between the arched feet. The item is in excellent antique condition. All connections and links are hand hammered and remains secure. It is structurally sound with no wobbles at all. Age appropriate surface surface wears and imperfections are to be expected. Please study the pictures carefully before committing to buy. Overall, this is a classical example that showcases the early 19th century American metal smith craftsmanship. A great display item for collectors of early brass /early Americana /primitive fireplace and hearth tool.
