The body has an outer diameter of 3-3/16 inches. The mouth has an outer diameter of 2-5/8 inches. The embossed Ball logo used on this jar are the design that was used between 1923 and 1933. The aluminum lid ring reads, “The Presto Jar & Closure are approved by”, “Tested and approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute Serial No. 2285, conducted by the Good Housekeeping Magazine.” “Delineator Home Institute endorsed”. The clear glass insert is marked, “Presto, Pat. RE 17562, to open insert knife at notch”. The original patent referenced was issued to Raymond H. Parker on Feb. 19, 1929, it was re-issued Jan. 14, 1930.There are a few tiny chips along the edge of the insert. NOTE, the line in the center of the insert is NOT a crack, but rather an imperfection when manufactured. There are also a few minor chips on the wide ring BELOW the screw top threads.
