Description: This Buy-It-Now Listing is for an original 1918 dated broadside poster advertising a Public Sale of animals and farm implements at the Engel farm near Berlin. The Auctioneer was L. C. Lakely. (Note - There is no indication what state this auction was held in. There are more than 20 census designated places around the U.S. named Berlin). The broadside measures 19” long by 12 1/2” inches wide, and is printed on paper in a variety of typeface and font sizes. It is illustrated with folk art style engravings of a horse and steer. The text promotes the horses as “all sound and good workers”, the sow “to farrow in April” and the cattle “cow fresh in March and yearling heifer”. Then follows a detailed inventory of the farm implements being offered. The broadside has excellent visual appeal and would look great if framed. Condition: Please Read Carefully - There are age related splits along all the fold lines, the most significant being the center fold (see listing photo) where the broadside has cleanly separated in half (see listing photo) and needs to be reattached with archival tape or some type of backing. There is also minor chipping along the edges and some age related toning of the paper. U.S. Buyers Only No International Shipping
