Description: James Anderson from the town of Anstruther, 25 miles from St, Andrews, is often referred to as the "original" cleek and iron maker.James began his business in1865 as a blacksmith and died in 1895. The original cleek mark was a 1/2 inch circle which contained the name " JAMES ANDERSON...ANSTRUTHER. This club is refinished and in mint condition in all respects and VERY RARE. See photos. It was sold by the ARMY and Navy cooperative storewhich is stamped on the head of the club. Club has been refinished. The club is valued at between $120--$250 depending on the condition, according to Chuck Furjanic in his book" Antique Golf Collectibles " on page 79.
